Famotidin 40mg
(Antiulcerants)

• DOSAGE FORM: Film-coated tablets
• COMPOSITION: Each film-coated tablet contains :
   - Famotidine ..... 40 mg
   - Excipients s.q.f  1 film-coated tablet. 
• PRESENTATION: 
    Box of  5 or 10 blisters x 10's. 
• INDICATIONS:
   - Duodenal ulcer, benign gastric ulcer.
   - Hypersecretory conditions, eg Zollinger  Ellison syndrome.
   - Prevention of relapses of benign gastric ulcer.
   - Reflux oesophagitis. 
• DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION : Famotidine is orally administered.
   - Duodenal ulcers: adults: 40mg/day swallowed before bedtime, the ulcer is healed in most cases within 4 weeks. In the rare patients whole ulcers have not healed completely after 4 weeks, treatment should be continued for a further 6 - 8 weeks. Administration Famotidine 20mg/day twice a day is also efficace. Maintenance therapy: a dose of one 20 mg tab daily taken at night.
   - Zollinger Ellison syndrome: Adults: the therapy should be started on dose of 20mg every 6 hrs which should be increased in some cases. At a higher dose, Famotidine can be taken in several divided doses according to patient's needs . In severe cases, dose can be administered 160mg every 6 hours. 
   - Gastric ulcers : adults 40mg daily before bedtime for 4 - 8 weeks. 
   - In patients with severe renal insufficiency, the dose of Famotidine should be reduced to 20mg daily taken at night at interval of 36 - 48 hrs depending on linical manifestations of patients.
